Steelers fans travel well, so we weren&#8217;t surprised,&#8221; said Lindley Diecks, vice president of Greater Pittsburgh Travel.The Steelers will play the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 25. It will be the first NFL regular-season game in Paris.Greater Pittsburgh Travel is preparing packages that include time in Paris and opportunities to explore the French countryside.  &#8220;We&#8217;ll definitely have a few days that are just spent in Paris. Of course, I&#8217;m sure there is going to be a lot of things happening in the city as well for the first NFL game there. We&#8217;ll also do a couple of day trips, probably. There&#8217;s so much of the French countryside to see,&#8221; Diecks said.  Looking for more news in your area | Subscribe to the WTAE YouTube ChannelBob Kerlik, spokesperson for Pittsburgh International Airport, explained how fans can travel to Europe from Pittsburgh.  &#8220;You can get into Europe very quickly from Pittsburgh International Airport by connecting through London on British Airways, and by connecting in Dublin on Aer Lingus, which actually starts next week,&#8221; Kerlik said.  For those who prefer U.S.-based airlines, Kerlik said that United, Delta and American Airlines offer flights to France. He said that these routes may involve navigating busier hubs like New York, and dealing with customs at larger airports compared to Pittsburgh.Mathias Barlat, honorary consul to France in Pittsburgh, knows all about the connections between Pittsburgh and Paris.&#8221;Family, our friends from France come to Pittsburgh throughout my whole entire life. Everybody always got along with Pittsburghers. The Pittsburgh community always embraced the French population, so I think it&#8217;s a good match,&#8221; Barlat said.  Barlat also noted that France is becoming a popular destination for sports, in addition to its reputation for romance.  &#8220;A lot of people don&#8217;t realize that France is a huge rugby country, and one of the best rugby countries in the world, and that&#8217;s pretty close to football,&#8221; Barlat said.
