A travelling circus that traverses France over 21 stages, many riders have opened up about the non-stop frenzy of media, fans, team meetings, and of course, high-pressure riding in the Tour de France. Perez found himself so encapsulated in the bubble to the point he saw the peloton when he tried to sleep.<\/p>\n

“As soon as I closed my eyes, I was in the peloton. You feel the pressure… I had three, four, five interviews every morning. You spend a lot of time off the bike. The same goes for rest days.”<\/p>\n

The interview comes after Decathlon CMA CGM confirmed that 19-year-old Paul Seixas<\/a>, widely regarded as the new great hope in French cycling, will take to the start in July. After podium finishes in Strade Bianche and Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge this season, as well as key wins at La Fl\u00e8che Wallonne and Itzulia Basque Country, the teenager hopes to strike while in form at his Tour debut.<\/p>\n

The decision stirred debate around the intensity and pressure that comes with the premier Grand Tour, especially being a French rider with growing hype around his growth and potential. However, Seixas definitively clarified his intentions this summer.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s been my childhood dream, something I\u2019ve often imagined, and now it\u2019s just around the corner. I\u2019m only 19 years old, but as I\u2019ve said before, age is neither a barrier nor an excuse. This decision, made in consultation with the team management, was carefully considered and developed collectively over the past few days.<\/p>\n

“My results since the start of the season have given me a lot of confidence; I feel ready, and I\u2019ll have ambitious goals.
