\n\tCANNES<\/a>, France \u2014 During the film festival, even a leisurely lunch needs to move with the pace of the screening schedule.<\/p>\n

\n\tJury members Ruth Negga, Stellan Skarsg\u00e5rd and Demi Moore squeezed in a few bites of veggies and seafood that just kept coming during Ami<\/a> Paris\u2019 Critics Week luncheon.<\/p>\n

\n\tNegga and Skarsg\u00e5rd lingered over the long tables, but both had to leave early to catch the next film.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m sad that I will be missing the main course,\u201d Skarsg\u00e5rd joked, while Negga admitted the jury\u2019s schedule of screenings and events had been relentless. She attended the Dior dinner late into the night before heading straight into daytime commitments. \u201cI didn\u2019t get much sleep,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\n\tMoore arrived for more of a drive-by, swinging in to chat with Ami<\/a> founder Alexandre Mattiussi and other guests in a white skirt suit and matching sunglasses.<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, she recalled her first Cannes<\/a> memory \u2014 a far cry from serving on the jury this year.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI came as a plus-one for the opening night of the festival for the film \u2018The Fifth Element,\u2019 and it was extremely grand and super exciting,\u201d she said of the 1997 event.<\/p>\n

\n\tMoore was accompanied to the lunch by her stylist, Brad Goreski.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWell, I\u2019m a huge fan of Ami, as is Demi. We wanted something that looked very South of France, very easy breezy to wear,\u201d he said of the all-white look.<\/p>\n

\n\tHow did they pack for a full two weeks of day and night outfits? \u201cVery carefully,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter last year\u2019s inaugural event, this year\u2019s was significantly bigger as the brand increases its role in the festival, taking over the courtyard of Fred L\u2019Ecailler on the quieter edge of Cannes, where families played p\u00e9tanque in the neighboring park. Despite being far from the action, supporters of one luncheon guest, the Thai actor Keng Harit, still found their way to the restaurant, and hung out near the entrance holding banners, adding just enough fan frenzy.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re making our mark,\u201d Mattiussi said. \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic. I\u2019m happy, first of all, to be the sponsor of such an amazing event,\u201d he said of the brand\u2019s partnership with the sidebar, which focuses on first- and second-time filmmakers. The section \u201cputs the light on the people who need it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile competition at Cannes can be intense, Mattiussi emphasized the atmosphere of the gathering was familial and centered on a love of film. \u201cIt is a beautiful human interaction. The people here are lovely. It\u2019s another temporality,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is where things happen,\u201d he added, citing Canadian actor Th\u00e9odore Pellerin as an example. Pellerin won the section\u2019s rising star award last year for \u201cNino,\u201d before later taking home the same acting category at the C\u00e9sar Awards. \u201cAnd now he is cast in the next movie of Tom Ford playing with amazing people \u2014 like Colin Firth and Adele,\u201d Mattiussi said of his tablemate.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe wanted to create this moment for people to meet the members of the jury, the films in competition, actors, actresses, directors, in a beautiful space that is a little bit outside Cannes. It\u2019s like a dream to be here, to be able to support films in this way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, the designer\u2019s schedule remains relentless. \u201cAnd next step, the next [fashion] show in one month. I took these six days off, but I am going back tonight to Paris. And back to work tomorrow,\u201d Mattiussi said.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlexander Ludwig was taking a break from filming the next season of \u201cWhite Lotus.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI love the brand, but I will tell you, the reason I am such a huge fan of this brand is sitting right beside me \u2014 my wife,\u201d he said, pointing to wife Lauren. \u201cShe is obsessed with Ami, and she is way more stylish than I am, so she\u2019s gotten me into it. And I love the brand, I truly do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, he hasn\u2019t yet made it to Paris for a runway show.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve been to a fashion show, but I went to a few in Milan back in \u2018The Hunger Games\u2019 days,\u201d Ludwig added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI gotta tell you, I really love it, because I love people who are passionate about what they do. And when you\u2019re surrounded by this kind of energy \u2014 this is about to be the corniest thing I\u2019ve ever said \u2014 but in a weird way, fashion is a way to wear who you are on the outside. It takes a confident person to take these risks and unapologetically display who they are, and that I can really appreciate,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd in its own way, like a great film or a great piece of television, it is one\u2019s expression to the world of what they\u2019re trying to say.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe\u2019s having a blast filming \u201cWhite Lotus.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019ll be in Saint-Tropez for about 10 more days, then we\u2019re going to move to Cannes, then Paris, and then back to the South of France,\u201d he said of the shooting schedule. \u201cTruly, I will tell you this \u2014 I\u2019ve read all eight episodes, and it is going to be a phenomenal season.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s the dream of dream jobs for so many reasons.
