{"id":16534,"date":"2026-05-20T10:30:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T10:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/16534\/"},"modified":"2026-05-20T10:30:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T10:30:08","slug":"bonhams-hong-kong-to-auction-private-cellar-of-marie-france-van-damme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/16534\/","title":{"rendered":"Bonhams Hong Kong to auction private cellar of Marie-France Van Damme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A private wine collection belonging to fashion designer Marie-France Van Damme is set to go under the hammer in Hong Kong, offering a rare chance to \u201cacquire wines shaped by one of fashion and design\u2019s most sophisticated eyes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-722495 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/unnamed-5-640x360.png\" alt=\"Marie-France Van Damme wine Hong Kong\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The sale, titled \u2018Icons of Elegance: The Private Wine Collection of Marie-France Van Damme\u2019, will run online from 19 May to 3 June 2026 through Bonhams Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>The 270-lot collection has been assembled over more than three decades and focuses heavily on Bordeaux wines, including rare vintages from some of the region\u2019s most prestigious estates.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Montreal, Van Damme moved from New York to Hong Kong in the 1980s and later established her luxury resort wear label, known internationally for its understated and refined style. Alongside her fashion career, she and her husband became known for collecting Asian art, design objects and fine wines.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bonhams, the couple began seriously collecting wine in the 1990s, driven by a passion for entertaining friends and family.
