{"id":16556,"date":"2026-05-20T11:53:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T11:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/16556\/"},"modified":"2026-05-20T11:53:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T11:53:07","slug":"lawmakers-confirm-macrons-pick-to-lead-bank-of-france-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/16556\/","title":{"rendered":"Lawmakers confirm Macron\u2019s pick to lead Bank of France \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Moulin told lawmakers at a confrontational but respectful hearing before his confirmation that he would respect the bank\u2019s independence as its governor and insisted he was well-qualified for the job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am confident that I could independently lead an institution that is proud of its history and focused on the future, dedicated to a reliable currency and a strong, stable and sustainable economy,\u201d Moulin said. <\/p>\n<p>Moulin spent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/emmanuel-macron-new-second-brain-adviser-emmanuel-moulin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">years working at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance<\/a>, serving as deputy chief of staff to current European Central Bank chief Christine Lagarde when she was minister, and as chief of staff to Bruno Le Maire, one of her successors.<\/p>\n<p>Moulin\u2019s critics, however, had deemed him too close to Macron to be considered sufficiently independent.
