(WMC) &#8211; The fence is up, and the equipment is in place as crews prepare to take down the Carrefour at Kirby Woods in Germantown on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The indoor\/outdoor mall was a staple for years and was home to popular spots like Swanky\u2019s Taco Shop and The Little Gym.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Local Michael Rollosson said whenever you see a well-known spot leaving, it is always a little sad. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThere is a nostalgia because you have spent a lot of happy times in that space and those places, and it always makes you smile,\u201d Rollosson said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The demolition is not a new update; the space was purchased in 2022 and rebranded as \u201cThe Standard Germantown.\u201d It will have 320 loft-style residences on Kirby Parkway and over 27,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Locals like Dominic Carbognani are happy the space is moving into the future. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI think it\u2019s a great spot to do it, there are plenty of businesses around the corner, you have International Paper, and I think it is a prime location to have some type of development,\u201d Carbognani said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">November 2024 was when all of the tenants moved out, and with demolition set to begin Tuesday, the next steps will be taken.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/newsletter\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/newsletter\/\">Click here<\/a> to sign up for our newsletter!<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfpc96d0EDHinF_AovDBi4RNoKbBfRbCIJiTWqF7p1VNE6ZNA\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Click here<\/a> to report a spelling or grammar error.
