Renault has filed a patent for the design of its compact SUV named Bridger, hinting at its arrival in India. It is expected to be launched in 2027.<\/p>\n

Renault has unveiled the Bridger Concept at its Strategy Day conference, previewing its upcoming sub-4 metre SUV<\/a>. Patent images of the Bridger had surfaced online ahead of the reveal, confirming several design elements previously hinted at in teasers. The production-spec Bridger will be designed and developed in India at the brand’s Chennai facility and is slated to go on sale around 2027. <\/p>\n

India will serve as a major export base for the compact SUV, in addition to being its primary market. The production version is expected to be positioned between the Kiger<\/a> and the Duster<\/a> in Renault’s Indian lineup. When launched, it will compete against established players in the sub-4m segment, such as the Kia Sonet,<\/a> Hyundai Venue<\/a>, Maruti Suzuki Brezza<\/a>, and Mahindra XUV 3XO<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Prices are expected to range between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).<\/p>\n

Renault Bridger: Design<\/p>\n

The Bridger concept previews a boxy compact SUV with an upright stance, strong lines, and smooth surfaces. It features bold and aggressive design elements. The SUV has a straight bonnet and a square-shaped front fascia. It gets a flat grille with illuminated Renault<\/a> lettering, new geometrical headlamps with uniquely styled LED DRLs, and a sporty bumper that houses a skid plate and mesh pattern for air intakes.<\/p>\n

Prominent cladding all around the body adds rugged character to its appearance. The side profile features smoother surfaces and a flat roof that gives it a boxy profile. It gets hexagonal wheel arches, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and prominent roof rails.<\/p>\n

An externally mounted spare wheel on the tailgate is also part of the design \u2013 a styling element typically associated with off-road-oriented SUVs.<\/p>\n

Renault Bridger:\u00a0 Platform\u00a0 and Powertrain<\/p>\n

Renault has confirmed that the Bridger will be based on the RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform) architecture. It is designed as a multi-energy vehicle with the ability to support petrol, hybrid, and electric powertrains. Sources indicate that Renault is working on a new 1.2-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine for the Bridger. The car is also expected to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Hybrid and electric variants will be on offer as well. The production-ready Bridger is expected to produce around 114bhp and 190Nm of torque from its 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit. <\/p>\n

Renault will also introduce a strong hybrid version at a later stage.
