{"id":25355,"date":"2026-05-27T10:10:26","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T10:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/25355\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T10:10:26","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T10:10:26","slug":"thales-delivers-first-ground-master-air-defense-radars-to-indonesia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/25355\/","title":{"rendered":"Thales Delivers First Ground Master Air Defense Radars to Indonesia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1779781824_382_WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thales has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thalesgroup.com\/en\/news-centre\/press-releases\/thales-delivers-first-two-gm403-radars-indonesia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">delivered<\/a> the first two Ground Master (GM) 403 long-range air surveillance radars to the Indonesian Air Force at Halim Air Base in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indonesia <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2023\/06\/18\/indonesia-military-radars-thales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ordered 13 GM403 radars in 2023<\/a> to expand national air surveillance coverage across its territory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another 11 systems are scheduled for delivery within the next 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The GM403 is a long-range three-dimensional air surveillance radar designed for early warning and airspace monitoring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Integrated with Thales\u2019 SkyView air command-and-control system, the radars will provide a unified operational air picture and real-time tracking of potential aerial threats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indonesia\u2019s dispersed archipelagic geography creates significant challenges for continuous airspace monitoring and integrated air defense coordination across a vast territory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once all systems are in place, the network will expand surveillance coverage across key air approaches and improve the military\u2019s ability to detect potential threats earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Local Integration and Air Defense Expansion<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indonesia has increasingly tied major defense purchases to local industrial participation and technology transfer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program is being executed with Indonesian state-owned defense company PT Len Industri, which will support local integration and long-term sustainment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Previous <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2024\/06\/07\/thales-indonesia-new-joint-venture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">cooperation between Thales and PT Len<\/a> includes a joint venture established to support Indonesia\u2019s air surveillance requirements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The partnership has also been positioned for potential expansion into electronic warfare, military satellite capabilities, national data links, and combat management systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBy building up local knowledge and expertise, strengthening industrial capabilities and ensuring maintenance and support close to the end-users, we are committed to driving Indonesia\u2019s sovereign defence ambitions,\u201d stated Guy Bonassi, Senior VP for Asia and Latin America at Thales.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13;
