American Airlines passengers will soon have a new Wi-Fi provider for their travels as the airline plans to add Starlink internet service \u201con more than 500 narrowbody aircraft\u201d starting in the first quarter of 2027. American described Starlink as the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky in its announcement.<\/p>\n
The term \u201cnarrowbody aircraft\u201d refers to single-aisle aircraft. American will update Wi-Fi on its fleet, including new Airbus A321XLR and A321neo deliveries.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a premium global airline, we are continuously seeking out world-class partners like Starlink to deliver what our customers need and want,\u201d American Airlines Chief Customer Officer Heather\u00a0Garboden said in a statement via the official announcement<\/a>. \u201cThe addition of Starlink solidifies American as a leading airline in keeping passengers connected in flight.\u201d<\/p>\n Starlink is operated by SpaceX, Elon Musk\u2019s space company. Starlink uses satellites that orbit closer to Earth than many other satellite systems to provide broadband internet, including on airplanes.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are proud to bring Starlink on board American Airlines, delivering fast and reliable internet to passengers and crew,\u201d Vice President of\u00a0Starlink Enterprise Sales at SpaceX Jason Fritch said in a statement. \u201cWhether traveling for leisure or business, Starlink enables a fully connected experience gate to gate, making every flight smoother and more enjoyable.\u201d<\/p>\n Several U.S. airlines already use or have announced plans to use Starlink, including Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines. JSX, a public-charter carrier, also uses the service.
