The Herm\u00e8s woman is real. And last night in Los Angeles, a collection of real women gathered both on the runway and off it, for the second chapter of designer Nad\u00e8ge Vanh\u00e9e\u2019s fall\/winter 2026 collection<\/a>. The idea of movement and realness inspired Gregoris Pyrpylis<\/a>, the brand\u2019s creative director for beauty, to create two makeup looks.<\/p>\n

Balletcore was a central inspiration, because Vanh\u00e9e looked to a dancer\u2019s wardrobe this season. Some models received a \u201cdance practice\u201d look, mimicking the aliveness and glow that comes with recent exercise\u2014a flushed cheek and a bit of \u201ca warm halo around the eye,\u201d Pyrpylis explained. He used the brand\u2019s Luminous Matte foundation<\/a>, a product that took four years to make because of its oxymoron-sounding finish (matte skin with a subtle radiance underneath) that worked perfectly for this endorphin-focused look. To replicate movement-induced blood flow, he applied blush using the brand\u2019s Rouge Silky Shine<\/a> lip product in the shade Brun Sellier or its Rouge Noir lipstick<\/a> in Pourpre Figue on the lower half of the cheek. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t look like a blush placement, but like the girls just ran onto the stage,\u201d he said. There was also a preview of a new product\u2014the brand\u2019s new lip care mask, launching in September, which comes in its signature house color of orange \u201cto nourish and bring all the elasticity to the lips,\u201d Pyrpylis said, while patting some onto model Karen Elson\u2019s mouth.<\/p>\n

The brand\u2019s second beauty look was \u201cdark glam\u201d to replicate a dancer post-performance, with clumpy lashes and eyeliner smudged gently on the lower lash line. As it was Herm\u00e8s, the effect was subtle and it was only up close that you could see the heavier pigment at the lash roots and a smattering of lashes that were ever-so-slightly matted together. Although it was a small detail, it was an unexpected gesture from a brand that many associate with perfection and that is known for creating objects \u201cmade to last.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

But as Pyrpylis explained, it\u2019s better to look human<\/a>, a trend we\u2019ve been continuing to see this year. \u201cI\u2019m sure people do expect something very perfect and polished each time from Herm\u00e8s, but we are a warm and emotional house. In my work, I\u2019m not looking for perfection, but for self-expression. The idea is to feel a hand in the application, almost artisanal. When you look at the girls, you feel like it\u2019s almost something that could be done by themselves and not from people who traveled the world to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

When authenticating Herm\u00e8s bags, experts often say that the biggest tell of a fake is when the stitching looks \u201ctoo perfect.\u201d The brand\u2019s Birkin, for instance, is constructed by a single artisan, so there are inevitable differences and what some deem as \u201cflaws\u201d that come from it being human-made. Pyrpylis and Herm\u00e8s\u2019s take on beauty may be what we need in an increasingly AI and machine-driven world: \u201cA little imperfection makes it feel more real.\u201d<\/p>\n
