{"id":3337,"date":"2026-04-07T14:35:23","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T14:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/3337\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T14:35:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T14:35:23","slug":"france-high-speed-rail-slams-into-truck-killing-train-driver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/3337\/","title":{"rendered":"France high-speed rail slams into truck, killing train driver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">A French high-speed train crashed into a truck carrying military equipment in northern France on Tuesday, killing the driver of the TGV and critically injuring two people, officials said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The truck driver was taken into police custody after the train, which was travelling from the northern city of Dunkirk to Paris and carrying 243 people, collided with the vehicle at a level crossing in the town of Bully-les-Mines.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The impact was so strong that the military vehicle weighing several dozen tonnes that was aboard the truck was sent flying about 10m (33 feet), landing near a private garden.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The 56-year-old train driver, described by officials as an experienced professional, died instantly, said local prosecutor Etienne Thieffry.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Two people were badly injured, although their lives were not in danger, Thieffry said.
