{"id":33653,"date":"2026-06-10T13:18:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T13:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/33653\/"},"modified":"2026-06-10T13:18:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T13:18:12","slug":"iran-war-is-shot-in-the-arm-for-renault-ev-orders-says-ceo-francois-provost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/33653\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran war is shot in the arm for Renault EV orders, says CEO Francois Provost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Renault\u2019s electric vehicle (EV) order book is up 50% in some markets, such as France and Germany, since the Iran war started, Renault Group CEO Francois Provost said in an interview on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Provost said Renault has no problems in terms of sourcing batteries but the company is having to work hard to keep up with demand for EVs and is setting up a task force to tackle this matter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re currently exceeding the capacity [of our suppliers] because of the war in Iran,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The French carmaker is also considering adding more production shifts in the second half of the year at its EV factories at Douai and Maubeuge in France and Novo Mesto in Slovenia, Provost said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Demand for EVs has surged across Europe as high fuel prices linked to the Iran war boosted interest in both new and second-hand EVs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In the first four months of the year, sales of fully electric cars in Europe jumped 29% to almost 1-million units.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"The electric Renault R5 pays homage to the original \u20185\u2019 and is proving that small cars still have lots of appeal.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/I7TGT7BOMBPYFLFCWVCT367CME.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The Renault 5 is one of the EVs currently offered by the French carmaker.
