Dubbed SMART, the system has been described by the FAA as a central pillar of its national airspace system (NAS) modernization plan.<\/p>\n<p>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/theaircurrent.com\/air-traffic-control\/faa-smart-ai-predictive-air-traffic-management-system-palantir-thales\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FAA quietly developing AI-enabled predictive air traffic management system<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An FAA spokesperson told The Air Current \u201cwe haven\u2019t awarded anything yet, but look forward to awarding a contract soon.\u201d ASI did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>ASI is expected to beat out software giants Palantir and Thales, the only other vendors bidding for the SMART contract.
