{"id":36828,"date":"2026-06-17T09:55:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T09:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/36828\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T09:55:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T09:55:12","slug":"studiocanal-sets-crime-docu-series-the-paris-tokyo-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/36828\/","title":{"rendered":"Studiocanal Sets Crime Docu-Series &#8216;The Paris-Tokyo Job&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOne of the world\u2019s most notorious art heists is getting a true crime documentary from <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/studiocanal\/\" id=\"auto-tag_studiocanal\" data-tag=\"studiocanal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Studiocanal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Paris-Tokyo Job (Or How To Rob A Yakuza),\u201d a four-part series, is set to debut at La Rochelle\u2019s Sunny Side of the Doc festival this month before bowing on <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/canal\/\" id=\"auto-tag_canal\" data-tag=\"canal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canal+<\/a> in France later this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe doc tells the story of Philippe \u201cFifi\u201d Jamin, a flamboyant delinquent who became an international fugitive in the 1980s after his gang began stealing and trafficking world-famous artworks, including paintings by Corot, becoming entangled with the Japanese Yakuza in the process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt is written and directed by J\u00e9r\u00e9mie Rozan (\u201cGold Brick\u201d) and J\u00e9r\u00f4me Pierrat (\u201cCocaine Air: Smugglers at 30,000 Feet\u201d) and produced by Philippe de Bourbon and Andaman Films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWhen Claude Monet\u2019s \u2018Impression, Sunrise,\u2019 valued at more than \u20ac100 million, is spectacularly stolen, the gang become the main suspect and pursued by law enforcement worldwide,\u201d reads the logline. \u201cAlong the way, they will pull off one of Japan\u2019s most audacious robberies: the 1986 Mitsubishi Bank heist in Tokyo, netting 300 million yen (almost \u20ac7 million today) and earning the label \u2018heist of the century.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe docu-series, which is also available as a two-hour standalone documentary, spans Tokyo, Bangkok and Mexico and combines cinematic storytelling, rare archival material, reconstructions and exclusive first-hand testimony to trace Fifi\u2019s rise and fall as the police swiftly close in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe documentary is set to be presented as part of Studiocanal\u2019s slate of premium factual content.
