Iraq\u2019s caretaker Prime
\nMinister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and French President Emmanuel Macron on
\nWednesday emphasized preserving the Iran\u2013US ceasefire to support regional and
\nglobal stability.<\/p>\n
During a phone call, the two
\nleaders reviewed recent developments and efforts to contain the conflict,
\nhighlighting the importance of maintaining the truce to reduce tensions. They
\nalso addressed Israeli activity in Lebanon and its wider impact, calling for an
\nimmediate halt and stressing the need to protect civilians.<\/p>\n
Al-Sudani also pointed to
\nefforts to strengthen Iraq\u2013France relations and expand cooperation, noting
\nrecent security operations that led to the arrest of individuals involved in
\nlaunching a drone targeting a site near Erbil hosting US-led Coalition forces,
\nan incident that resulted in the death of a French officer.<\/p>\n

\nearlier announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran following nearly 40 days of
\nregional escalation. Despite the truce, Israeli forces then carried out more
\nthan 100\u00a0airstrikes<\/a>\u00a0within 10 minutes across multiple locations
\nin Lebanon, including Beirut, its suburbs, the south, and the Beqaa, with the Lebanese
\nHealth Ministry reporting 182 people killed and 890 others injured.<\/p>\n
