{"id":40186,"date":"2026-06-23T22:32:17","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T22:32:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/40186\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T22:32:17","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T22:32:17","slug":"electric-renault-megane-rs-wont-be-happening-sadly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/40186\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric Renault Megane RS won&#8217;t be happening, sadly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\tRenault has confirmed it is not planning a performance-focused version of its facelifted, all-electric Megane in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>\nAt the launch of the heavily revised car, <a href=\"https:\/\/evpowered.co.uk\/news\/new-renault-megane-facelift-comes-with-more-electric-range-updated-design-to-ensure-competitiveness-against-vw-id3-and-kia-ev4\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the new Megane\u2019s product manager<\/a>, Benjamin Kotlowski, told EV Powered: \u201cWe have no plans to launch a hot version of the Megane in the future. With this updated car, we want to keep things simple for our customers by offering just two trim levels, Techno and Esprit Alpine. We hope this approach will make our line-up easier to understand for new and returning buyers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the back of ruling out an electric-only spiritual successor to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.renault.co.uk\/electric-vehicles\/megane-electric.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Renault Megane<\/a> RS, Kotlowski explained that the Megane will be available with just one powertrain choice in the name of simplicity.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28307\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/New-Renault-Megane-EV-2026-front-34-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"567\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>It is driven by a front-mounted motor producing 217bhp \u2013 a figure unchanged from the outgoing car \u2013 which is paired with an all-new 67kWh Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery producing 310 miles of range, 30 miles more than its prtedecessor.<\/p>\n<p>Kotlowski\u2019s words suggest that Renault will focus on cementing its position as one of Europe\u2019s leading mainstream EV manufacturers with the <a href=\"https:\/\/evpowered.co.uk\/electric-car-reviews\/renault-4-plein-sud-review-not-just-a-feel-good-hit-of-the-summer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">award-winning Renault 4<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/evpowered.co.uk\/electric-car-reviews\/long-term-test-renault-5-month-5-mums-the-word\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">5<\/a>, plus <a href=\"https:\/\/evpowered.co.uk\/news\/bonjour-mon-cheri-getting-up-close-and-personal-with-the-new-renault-twingo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the upcoming Twingo<\/a> and this latest Megane.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected that Renault\u2019s sister brand, Alpine, will be responsible for producing the French firm\u2019s performance cars. At present, its electric model line-up comprises the Renault 5-based Alpine A290 and the recently launched Alpine A390 crossover.
