World Health Organization officials reported Wednesday that the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo continued to exceed the humanitarian response. The outbreak is moving fast, with nearly 1,100 confirmed cases and 277 deaths, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus shared<\/a> during a Wednesday briefing.<\/p>\n The Ebola virus spreads through bodily fluids or direct contact with an infected person, rather than through the air. Officials noted that the remains of people who died from Ebola must be handled carefully to stop the continued spread of the virus.
