\n\t\u201cParis is burning,\u201d Alexandre Mattiussi declared backstage at his spring<\/a> Ami<\/a> show on Wednesday night, as giant fans roared around him.<\/p>\n

\n\tSure, the thermometer was hovering around 38 degrees Celsius, but he was referring to how the French capital has become such a hotbed of culture, youthful energy and a celebratory spirit \u2014 despite all the troubles marring the world.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe designer said he was crossing the city on Sunday night during F\u00eate de la Musique and \u201cI was crying with joy because I felt like, \u2018Oh my god, this is the new generation, dancing all night long, half naked, swimming in the Canal Saint Martin.\u2019 I felt lucky to witness this. It\u2019s not for me anymore. I\u2019m 45 \u2014 I\u2019m not gonna jump from the bridge, but I was tempted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNo surprise, there were \u201cI Love Paris\u201d T-shirts stalking the coed runway, incorporating his Ami de Coeur heart logo. Heart shapes also appeared on surf shorts, team jerseys and sweater vests \u2014 all elements in the \u201cunstudied urban attitude\u201d Mattiussi explores in his collections, hinged on real clothes for real life.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBelievable, reliable, comfortable,\u201d he said with a shrug.<\/p>\n

\n\tThere was a low-key preppy vibe amid Mattiussi\u2019s familiar mix of tailoring and sporty fare \u2014 so gym shorts might come under a navy blazer, or a nylon anorak, a recurrent style this Paris season, might go over a sequin skirt.<\/p>\n

\n\tButtery colors, safari and jeans jackets, the latter coming in suede or denim unraveling at the hem, ticked the season\u2019s trend boxes. <\/p>\n

\n\tPointing at the shrunken T-shirts and polos on the runway, Mattiussi let slip that he\u2019s expanding his wholesome, upbeat fashion universe further into kidswear, offering sizes for ages 4 to 12 from spring 2027 onward.<\/p>\n

\n\tClothes for pets are not far behind. His first customer may be the Miniature Pinscher he\u2019s adopting soon.
