{"id":42063,"date":"2026-06-26T16:10:28","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T16:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/42063\/"},"modified":"2026-06-26T16:10:28","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T16:10:28","slug":"thales-to-provide-5000-comm-kits-for-us-army-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/42063\/","title":{"rendered":"Thales to Provide 5,000 Comm Kits for US Army Vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1781197179_626_WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The US Army has contracted Thales Defense &amp; Security for up to 5,000 Low Cost Data Architecture Radio Adaptable Transport (LOCODA RAT) systems, supporting the military\u2019s effort to revamp tactical communications across its vehicle fleet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LOCODA RAT upgrades connectivity while fitting into existing mission modules and vehicle radio mounts, eliminating the need for major hardware modifications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Built using commercial off-the-shelf and non-developmental technologies, the system aims to reduce integration challenges, lower lifecycle costs, and support rapid production scaling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The platform uses a standardized interface with TrellisWare\u2019s TSM mobile ad hoc network waveform and AES-256 encryption algorithm that supports single-channel, multi-channel, and multi-transport operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its modular design also allows users to install additional radios, amplifiers, and other mission systems to extend network range and increase connectivity options.<\/p>\n<p>Providing \u2018Immediate Access\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Thales, the order supports the US Army\u2019s broader push to field adaptable communications systems \u201ccapable of supporting distributed operations in increasingly contested environments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said it developed LOCODA RAT from concept to mission-ready status in less than four months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Army doesn\u2019t have time to wait for capability, and with the Thales LOCODA RAT solution, they didn\u2019t have to,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thalesdsi.com\/2026\/06\/23\/thales-secures-significant-u-s-army-locoda-radio-order-following-rapid-development-push\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a> Gary Kidwell, vice president of communications systems at Thales Defense &amp; Security.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is about giving warfighters immediate access to secure, flexible voice and data connectivity that can adapt as quickly as the missions and the threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"619\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Thales_Radio_Adaptable_Transport_cThales.jpg\" alt=\"The Low Cost Data Architecture Radio Adaptable Transport (LOCODA RAT) system.
