{"id":44471,"date":"2026-07-01T16:12:29","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T16:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/44471\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T16:12:29","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T16:12:29","slug":"cma-cgm-group-to-buy-fedex-supply-chain-for-1-4-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/44471\/","title":{"rendered":"CMA CGM Group to buy FedEx Supply Chain for $1.4 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>French logistics service provider <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cmacgm-group.com\/en\/news-media\/cma-cgm-group-acquire-fedex-supply-chain-strengthening-logistics-presence-north-america\" target=\"_blank\">CMA CGM Group has agreed to acquire FedEx Supply Chain for $1.4 billion<\/a>, saying the move would nearly triple the size of the North American contract logistics operations of the CMA CGM subsidiary CEVA Logistics.<\/p>\n<p>According to FedEx, <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fedex.com\/en-us\/logistics\/supply-chain.html\" target=\"_blank\">its Pittsburgh-based FedEx Supply Chain division<\/a> provides warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, returns, recycling, and transportation management. By integrating those assets and nearly 10,000 employees, CEVA Logistics will grow to operate approximately 150 warehouses and manage a combined workforce of 20,000 people located at more than 240 locations across North America.<\/p>\n<p>FedEx created its FedEx Supply Chain arm in 2015 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcvelocity.com\/articles\/27135-fedex-acquires-genco-in-big-push-to-match-ups-dhl-in-contract-logistics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">when it acquired the third-party logistics (3PL) provider Genco Supply Chain Solutions for an undisclosed sum<\/a>. At the time, FedEx said the deal was part of a strategy to expand into areas beyond its core transportation offerings, and to compete against companies like UPS Inc. and DHL Corp. in the contract logistics sector.<\/p>\n<p>Now that experiment is over. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcvelocity.com\/transportation\/trucking\/less-than-truckload\/analysts-praise-fedex-move-to-spin-off-its-ltl-division\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The move marks the second time in recent months<\/a> that FedEx has shed a major part of the company, following its decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcvelocity.com\/transportation\/trucking\/less-than-truckload\/fedex-completes-spin-off-of-its-ltl-trucking-division\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">spin off its FedEx Freight division into a standalone less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier last month.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the acquisition, CMA CGM also plans to make a multi-year commercial agreement with FedEx Corp. Under that deal, CMA CGM will become a preferred ocean carrier for FedEx in a non-exclusive agreement.
