Boston Legacy FC announced the signing of American center back Deja Davis from Paris FC on a free transfer through the 2028 NWSL season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s really exciting to be a part of something that\u2019s new,\u201d said Davis in a statement. \u201cMy intention was to be here and be at the beginning of something, and help the team make a name in the NWSL. Also, for me, I\u2019m discovering the NWSL. I\u2019ve never played in the NWSL. I\u2019m also pretty close to home, so it\u2019s my chance to have my family come to games.\u201d<\/p>\n
Davis is a 31-year-old defender with nine seasons of professional experience in France. She started in France\u2019s third division with Le Havre after graduating from La Salle University in 2016. In her first season with Le Havre the team earned promotion to the second division, and then later won promotion again to the first division during the 2019-2020 season.<\/p>\n
Following the success with Le Havre, Davis made a switch to Paris FC for two seasons. In her first season with with the club Davis won a Coupe de France trophy in a final against Paris Saint-Germain and finished third in the Premi\u00e8re Ligue.<\/p>\n
\u201cDeja [Davis] is a highly reliable center back,\u201d said Legacy general manager Dom\u00e8 Guasch in a statement. \u201cShe\u2019s lived the climb from the third division to the Champions League in France. That experience and that builder\u2019s mentality are exactly what we need at the core. Someone who knows how to lay a foundation, brings real defensive stability, and makes everyone around her better.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Legacy have been inconsistent for the first half of the NWSL season and hold the 14th spot in the NWSL standings with only nine points through 12 matches played thus far.
