{"id":46995,"date":"2026-07-06T22:44:06","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T22:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/46995\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T22:44:06","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T22:44:06","slug":"thales-acquires-exail-technologies-stake-as-it-expands-undersea-warfare-footprint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/46995\/","title":{"rendered":"Thales acquires Exail Technologies stake as it expands undersea warfare footprint"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/tag\/thales\/\" id=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/tag\/thales\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Thales<\/a> will acquire a controlling stake in French maritime drone maker Exail Technologies, company officials announced today, as the French aerospace and defense firm expands its foothold in the undersea warfare arena.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, Italian shipbuilding company <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/tag\/fincantieri\/\" id=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/tag\/fincantieri\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fincantieri<\/a> announced today an agreement to acquire four underwater technology firms \u2014 Next Geosolutions, WSense, Graal Tech and Defcomm \u2014 for approximately \u20ac600 million ($686.5 million USD).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thales said it is acquiring 35.5 percent of Exail shares from the Gorg\u00e9 family. The purchase is slated to close by the end of summer 2027, according to Thales.\u00a0Rapha\u00ebl Gorg\u00e9 is Exail\u2019s chairman and chief executive officer, and the family has been the controlling shareholder of the company. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this acquisition, Thales and Exail plan to join forces,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2023\/03\/interview-thales-ceo-talks-air-supremacy-combat-cloud-and-middle-east-investments\/\" id=\"https:\/\/breakingdefense.com\/2023\/03\/interview-thales-ceo-talks-air-supremacy-combat-cloud-and-middle-east-investments\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Patrice Caine<\/a>, chairman and chief executive officer of Thales, said in a statement today. \u201cTogether, thanks to our talents and capabilities, we will strengthen our high-technology industrial base and innovation for our world-class defence and civil customers, while reinforcing Europe\u2019s technological sovereignty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once this acquisition closes, Thales said that it will submit a mandatory tender offer to purchase all of the company for approximately \u20ac134.00 per share ($153.3 USD), translating to a company value of roughly \u20ac3.9 billion ($4.5 billion USD).
