Peugeot has taken the wraps off the E-5008 Dog Edition concept.<\/p>\n

Has a modular mattress that acts as a cover and turns into a dog bed.<\/p>\n

The model also has a window headrest as well as a lost dog mode.<\/p>\n

Dogs aren\u2019t just pets, they\u2019re part of the family. Automakers know that and Stellantis recently launched Mopaw<\/a> to tap into the $157 billion that Americans spent on their furry companions last year.<\/p>\n

Stellantis is now doubling down with the Peugeot E-5008 Dog Edition concept, which was \u201cdesigned through the eyes\u201d of a dog. As a result, the company explored how dogs see, feel and experience a car trip.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t just marketing hyperbole as the concept has been equipped with an interior color scheme inspired by canine vision. Since dogs can only see certain hues, designers combined \u201csoothing shades of blue with more stimulating touches of yellow.\u201d The concept also has soft, non-slip materials to improve canine comfort.<\/p>\n

One of the more interesting features is a so-called modular mattress, which has multiple purposes. It can be installed on the rear seats or in the cargo area to act as a protector and hair collector. Once you get to your destination, it can be transformed into a dog bed.<\/p>\n

Since many dogs like to put their head out the window, Peugeot created a window headrest. It\u2019s a soft yellow cushion that mounts on top of the window glass and allows your dog to comfortably rest their head while enjoying the scenery.<\/p>\n

The concept has also been equipped with an assortment of accessories including integrated bowls, bags, and a connected harness. They\u2019re joined by a special dog toy and a V2L-powered pet dryer, which can be stored underneath the load floor.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the highlights is a navigation system that suggests charging stations located near parks or walking areas. The concept also boasts a Dog Retriever function, which \u201callows the vehicle to emit a dedicated sound to call a lost dog back, recognize it upon its return, and facilitate its re-entry into the vehicle.\u201d<\/p>\n

On top of that, there\u2019s a Dog Guardian Mode. It enables you to make quick stops at the store as the vehicle will maintain a comfortable interior temperature and allow for remote monitoring.<\/p>\n

While the concept won\u2019t be going into production, Peugeot<\/a> noted more than 50% of large SUV owners have a dog and 64% of dog owners plan to vacation with their pet.<\/p>\n
