{"id":55742,"date":"2026-07-23T12:42:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T12:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/55742\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T12:42:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T12:42:10","slug":"polymarket-to-challenge-frances-nationwide-website-block","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/55742\/","title":{"rendered":"Polymarket to challenge France\u2019s nationwide website block"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Polymarket <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.co.uk\/news-releases\/polymarket-statement-on-anj-ruling-302832095.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">plans to challenge<\/a> France\u2019s decision to block its website, arguing the order prevents users from accessing its market probabilities even though trading from the country has been disabled since November 2024.<\/p>\n<p>France\u2019s National Gambling Authority <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2026\/07\/18\/france-orders-country-s-internet-service-providers-to-block-polymarket\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ordered internet providers<\/a> to block the platform last week, saying it exposed users to potential losses and offered markets that could be manipulated.<\/p>\n<p>Polymarket said it would challenge the decision through the French legal system and called the order disproportionate because it covers users who visit the site for information rather than to trade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were surprised at the ANJ decision to block access to our entire website because their measure targets people going to Polymarket purely for information,\u201d the company said in a press release.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud that most people come to Polymarket solely to learn the probability of future events relevant to their everyday life with no intention to trade,\u201d the company added. \u201cPrediction markets help source truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dispute turns in part on how Polymarket\u2019s contracts should be classified.
