{"id":57410,"date":"2026-07-27T11:44:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T11:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/57410\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T11:44:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T11:44:10","slug":"romania-orders-12-ground-master-200-aesa-radars-from-thales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/57410\/","title":{"rendered":"Romania Orders 12 Ground Master 200 AESA Radars From Thales\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1781197179_626_WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Romania is acquiring 12 combat-proven GM200 Multi-Mission All-in-One (GM200 MM\/A) radars from French firm Thales to strengthen airspace protection amid <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/07\/24\/romania-shoots-down-drone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reports of drone incursions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thalesgroup.com\/en\/news-centre\/press-releases\/thales-strengthen-romanias-airspace-protection-twelve-ground-master-200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">order<\/a> was made through a signed government-to-government landmark agreement between Romania and France, funded under the <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2025\/05\/29\/eu-council-safe-defense-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">European Union\u2019s SAFE funding program<\/a>, which finances participating countries\u2019 defense acquisitions to ensure readiness.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apart from supplying the radars, Thales will also establish a Radar Competence Centre to strengthen the NATO country\u2019s long-term industrial capacity and radar expertise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first radar delivery is expected by 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe stand ready to expand partnerships with Romanian industry, to strengthen localisation, sustain operational readiness, and contribute to future NATO and European initiatives involving Romania,\u201d said Pascale Sourisse, Thales\u2019 Senior Executive VP of International Development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest deal is part of Bucharest\u2019s efforts to strengthen airspace protection, following orders made in June to acquire various air defense systems from <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/06\/25\/romania-rheinmetall-skyranger-35\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Germany\u2019s Rheinmetall<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/06\/30\/romania-rafael-spyder-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Israel\u2019s Rafael<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>GM200 MM\/A\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The GM200 MM\/A, part of Thales\u2019 Ground Master family, is a 4D active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar that detects and tracks a variety of targets, including enemy drones, aircraft, and missiles, from up to 350 kilometers (217 miles) away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The radar, mast, and power generator are housed in a single 20-foot (6-meter) shelter, which can be mounted on vehicles and deployed in under 15 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond air and surface surveillance, the GM200 MM\/A can perform weapon coordination and RAM (Rocket\/Artillery\/Mortar) sense and warn missions simultaneously.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&#13;
