PARIS \u2014 French police detained a man on Monday after he attacked three women with knives near Porte de \u200bClichy in Paris, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told reporters.<\/p>\n
The \u200bman attacked the three women, who were aged \u206019, 24 and 36, with two kitchen knives, severely wounding \u200btwo of them, Nunez said.<\/p>\n
Video aired on social platform X and \u200bverified by Reuters showed a man with long black hair, wearing a cream tracksuit and wielding one big knife in each hand, stabbing and attempting \u200bto attack a young woman. <\/p>\n

Another part of the video shows the same \u200cman \u2060lying on the ground, immobilized by bystanders, while the two knives are lying nearby on a pedestrian crossing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is Allah who commanded me,\u201d the man lying on the floor \u200bsaid.<\/p>\n
Nunez said the \u200bman had \u2060been detained by an off-duty police officer. \u201cI pay tribute to him; it was a courageous \u200bact,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The motive of the attack \u200bremains unknown, \u2060Nunez said, adding police could not verify the identity of the attacker, whose declarations were \u201cincoherent\u201d while he was being arrested.<\/p>\n
