{"id":57623,"date":"2026-07-27T20:07:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T20:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/57623\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T20:07:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T20:07:09","slug":"airbus-tests-a350-1000ulr-with-first-flight-to-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/57623\/","title":{"rendered":"Airbus Tests A350-1000ULR With First Flight to Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Airbus\u2019 ultra-long-range A350-1000ULR touched down in Australia for the first time on Friday as the type continues flight testing ahead of planned deliveries to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qantasnewsroom.com.au\/media-releases\/qantas-project-sunrise-test-aircraft-to-touch-down-in-australia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"Qantas\">Qantas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The jet departed Airbus\u2019 facility in Toulouse, France, and flew for about 19 hours before landing in Melbourne. Qantas said the -1000ULR was operated by four Airbus test pilots and five engineers, who evaluated the aircraft\u2019s systems, including its additional 20,000-liter fuel tank, which will allow for flights of up to 22 hours without stops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two Qantas pilots will join the Airbus crew on the journey back to France, which is scheduled for Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The A350-1000ULR is being built custom for Qantas as part of \u201cProject Sunrise,\u201d the carrier\u2019s yearslong plan to serve far-flung locales such as London and New York nonstop from Australia\u2019s east coast. The carrier announced in June <a href=\"https:\/\/airlinegeeks.com\/2026\/06\/17\/qantas-names-first-ultra-long-haul-project-sunrise-destination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"that London will be its first Project Sunrise destination, with flights from Sydney tentatively scheduled to begin in October 2027\">that London will be its first Project Sunrise destination, with flights from Sydney tentatively scheduled to begin in October 2027<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The airplane that made the journey from Toulouse to Melbourne was produced for testing purposes and will not join Qantas\u2019 fleet. The first -1000ULR intended for the airline, nicknamed \u201cVega,\u201d is currently taking shape on Airbus\u2019 final assembly line.
