In times of economic hardship, the luxury segment seeks new ways to maintain its connection with audiences through cultural codes and emotionally charged looks on the runway.

Chanel: Fairy-tale motifs and an artistic vision for the runway

Chanel, under the leadership of Matthieu Blazy, unfolds the collection around fairy-tale narratives. The Grand Palais is transformed into a stage with exquisite details and vines, where flawless tailoring helps the story come to life. Joël Blanc, the artist whose presence added a sense of living art to the show, sat in the front row. The collection conveys the idea of a fairy tale: every piece, from refined boots to small decorative notes, breathes a story, as if a chain from inception to the finale.

Dior: Art at the Rodin Museum

Jonathan Anderson at Dior draws on the creative heritage of art: the second collection is shown at the Musée Rodin, where he draws inspiration from the works of contemporary sculptor Lynda Benglis. The 84-year-old American is known for experiments with latex and sequins; her influence is evident in the palette and textures of the collection, which is inspired by the landscapes of Santa Fe and Ahmedabad. The idea of blending Europe and India is traced through the colors and textures that intertwine in the garments.

Beyond the runway, the designer also envisions a wedding ceremony amid Rodin’s garden motifs: an imagined ceremony in front of the sculpture The Kiss would resonate more if this ceremonial moment embodied style rather than merely serving as a celebration.

Balenciaga: Emotional couture by Pierpaolo Piccioli

The first couture show by Pierpaolo Piccioli for Balenciaga proved deeply emotional: mood takes the lead on the creative stage, not just the dress. The designer emphasizes that couture is a state of mind that brings joy and a light thrill, like in music or cinema. The collection features expressive silhouettes with a focus on the waist and narrow piping, as well as nuances of surrealism – images with unusual facial expressions and the radiance of glass beads create an atmosphere reminiscent of vampire themes.

Alaïa Foundation: A legacy preserved in integrity

Beyond the runway, visitors visited the Alaïa Foundation – a pilgrimage site for many fashionistas and artists, where archives, books, and works of art are kept. The Alaïa studio remains almost unchanged since his death: a glass-fronted display preserves the atmosphere of the artisanal workshop. Carla Sozzani, who supports the designer’s legacy, called the Alaïa legacy a unity – a principle that binds the honesty of craft with responsibility toward future generations.

Standing Ground: Michael Stuart and His Own Rhythm

Michael Stuart’s debut under the Standing Ground label marked the emergence of a new voice in the Paris couture context. His eveningwear attracted private clients through a modern reimagining of forms and storytelling through detailing. He emphasizes the need to preserve individual style and not bow to constant seasonal demands, maintaining his own rhythm of creativity. The show featured looks with models sporting unusual gazes, creating an atmosphere of tension and individuality, almost like a mini-vampire tale on the runway.

Rahul Mishra and Indian Heritage

Rahul Mishra again turns to ancient India as a source of inspiration. In the designer’s notes, there is a fragment of a legendary saying about an angel carved from marble depth – a symbol of how craft and sculpture feed fashion. The Maa collection looks antique and talismanic: silhouettes lift the shoulders, evoking a sense of feathered ascent. Isha Ambani, who sat in the front row, noted that Indian craftsmanship not only meets couture’s demands but often exceeds them. Also mentioned is Manish Malhotra, whose debut on the scene is linked to cinematic thinking and Bollywood costumes. The Maa collection unfolds in four sections and begins with three-dimensional busts of mother and child, portrayed across time.

Opera Gallery: Gustavo Nazareno

At the Opera Gallery theatre in Paris, works by Brazilian artist Gustavo Nazareno are on display, whose work fuses Renaissance aesthetics with Afro-Brazilian gods, fabrics, and couture elegance. Nazareno recalled that he spent his childhood in the library, reading about the Renaissance, and later his fashion-shaping imagery emerged thanks to visual experimentation with photography and clothing; many canvases have already been sold, signaling strong demand among collectors.

Paris Couture Week leaves a sense of a garden expedition through avant-garde solutions and unique debuts – a fusion of earth and sky, art and dream, where vampire-bride motifs and garden looks give fashion language a new living grammar.

Runways became immersive stages that mixed fairy tales, sculpture and ritual, inviting readers to discover how couture is…

[4
36640,36641,12724,15577,6,30,12602,31486
post-58430","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-paris","tag-balenciaga-couture","tag-couture-and-art","tag-jonathan-anderson","tag-matthieu-blazy","tag-news","tag-paris","tag-paris-couture-week","tag-rahul-mishra
["GET
