10 years ago, when we revised our strategy, we said we see a world where energy will become more and more important. And how we will solve that energy equation, one by accelerating electrification and by digitalizing. What I mean digitalizing electrification, it means bringing a layer of intelligence on top of the electrical box that you have in your home, that we have in the building where I am, an industry, a data center and so on and so forth. So 70% of the rest of the market is in other segment of Schneider Electric. <\/p>\n

But if I come back to the electrification topic, which is growing everywhere in the world and by the way, the recent or the existing conflict, I should say in Middle East, just accelerate the focus on electrification. Data center today represent only 1.5 of electricity consumption in the world. Tomorrow it’s 3%. So you have to imagine that 97% of electricity consumption in the world is in other segment. And that’s where Schneider Electric can bring with a lot of solution, which is in the world today are amplified on the AI. <\/p>\n

So we benefit on the infrastructure, but actually we also leverage AI big time in our company to go to the next level of intelligence for our customer. <\/p>\n

The market is concerned, right about the data center build out, about spending and there seem to be sort of two areas of concern. One is hyperscalar spending, how long it’s going to last. It sounds like you have visibility at least for the next couple of years. The other has to do with the backlash that we have seen particularly here in the US about construction. You know, we’ve seen states like New York put a moratorium on new construction. We’ve seen push back in other places. Are you seeing that in your business at all? Are you seeing projects that have been delayed or even canceled in some cases? <\/p>\n

No, no, absolutely what you express in the US, you start to see it in different part of the world and we’ve seen that raising in the in the past. And I think it’s a fair question. I think we have to develop all those AI infrastructure in a very, very responsible manner. At the end of the day, that should not be at the cast of the people, the population in different part of the world. But again, if I repeat what I’ve said before and that’s very important from a technology standpoint, if we are able to implement AI on electrification, energy usage everywhere in the world, you have the large part of the solution to make sure that we continue to make electricity affordable, available and sustainable. So I know it’s a difficult time because on one side you have the rise of this AI infrastructure that trigger all those questions which are absolutely fair. At the same time, the answer is part of the question. And our job as a company is to be in the middle and to balance, but we are a very strong advocate that AI is part of the answer because, you know, you, me, most of us in the world, we live in an home today where you have an electrical panel which is not connected, which is not intelligent, and guess what? Electricity consumption in the world, the highest contributor is home. It’s you, it’s me, it’s all of us. So let’s make it clear that 97% by 2030 of electricity consumption is not in data center.
