The result exceeded the approximately $5.34 billion expected by analysts and reinforced Dupixent’s position as Regeneron’s largest commercial growth driver.

Regeneron does not record Dupixent’s global product sales directly. Instead, Sanofi records the sales, and Regeneron recognizes its contractual share of the collaboration’s profits as revenue.

The companies share U.S. profits equally. Outside the United States, Regeneron’s share operates on a sliding scale that ranges from 35% to 45%, depending on sales levels.

Regeneron’s retained economics had historically been reduced by an obligation to reimburse Sanofi for previously funded development activities. Sanofi generally funded between 80% and 100% of agreed development expenses, while Regeneron was required to reimburse between 30% and 50% of those expenses based on its share of collaboration profits.

Under the agreement, Regeneron applied 20% of its quarterly share of collaboration profits toward the outstanding development balance. The obligation stood at approximately $278 million as of March 31, 2026, after falling from approximately $595 million at the end of 2025.

The financial effect was visible during the first quarter. Regeneron’s underlying share of commercial profits from the antibody collaboration totaled approximately $1.73 billion, but the company applied $277 million toward the development balance. This reduced its recognized share of profits to approximately $1.45 billion.

Regeneron fully repaid the remaining development balance during the second quarter. As a result, the company should no longer have to divert 20% of its share of profits toward that historical obligation.

All else being equal, completing the repayment should increase the percentage of Dupixent and Kevzara collaboration profits that Regeneron recognizes as revenue and retains as cash. The benefit should become more visible during the second half of 2026 as Dupixent sales continue expanding.

The repayment does not change the companies’ underlying profit-sharing percentages or eliminate Regeneron’s responsibility for applicable ongoing development costs. Instead, it removes the accumulated reimbursement balance tied to development spending previously funded by Sanofi.

The combination of rapid Dupixent growth and the completed repayment creates a significant earnings inflection. Regeneron is receiving a larger profit pool from higher product sales while simultaneously ending a material reduction applied to its contractual share.

Regeneron’s total second-quarter revenue increased 17% to approximately $4.29 billion, compared with analyst expectations of around $3.82 billion. Non-GAAP diluted earnings reached $14.29 per share, exceeding the approximately $10.26 expected by analysts.

EYLEA HD provided another major source of commercial growth. U.S. sales of the higher-dose eye treatment increased 52% to $596 million, supported by stronger demand and higher sales volume. Lower pricing partially offset the volume growth.

However, the original lower-dose EYLEA product continued to face competitive pressure and patient transitions to EYLEA HD. This means some EYLEA HD growth represents migration within the franchise rather than entirely incremental demand.

The shift toward EYLEA HD is strategically important as Regeneron works to defend its ophthalmology business against competing treatments, lower-priced alternatives, and biosimilar versions of the original EYLEA product.

Dupixent’s continued expansion is supported by approvals across a growing number of diseases associated with type 2 inflammation. Recent approvals have expanded its use in chronic spontaneous urticaria among young children and allergic fungal rhinosinusitis, adding to indications that include atopic dermatitis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and several other inflammatory conditions.

The commercial results also help offset uncertainty elsewhere in Regeneron’s pipeline. A Phase 3 study evaluating fianlimab with Libtayo in first-line advanced melanoma did not achieve statistical significance against Keytruda, although the company continues evaluating the program and another head-to-head study.

Regeneron’s second-quarter performance therefore reflects more than another period of strong Dupixent sales. Completing the Sanofi repayment changes how much of the collaboration’s growing profit base can flow through to Regeneron.

With quarterly Dupixent sales reaching approximately $6 billion, even a modest increase in the proportion of profits retained by Regeneron could have a meaningful effect on collaboration revenue, earnings, and cash generation.

KEY QUOTES:

“Regeneron delivered another quarter of strong financial performance, with double-digit top- and bottom-line growth reflecting the continued strength of our commercial portfolio and the potential of our pipeline. Of note, global Dupixent, global Libtayo, and U.S. EYLEA HD net product sales increased by 38%, 30%, and 52%, respectively, compared to the second quarter of 2025. With approximately 50 clinical assets, we remain focused on translating our science into even more successful new medicines across a broad array of diseases.”

Leonard S.
