The backlash follows renewed criticism over Ye\u2019s history of antisemitic remarks. Last year, the rapper came under fire after releasing a song titled \u201cHeil Hitler\u201d and promoting a swastika T-shirt on his website. France\u2019s reported efforts come shortly after Ye was barred from entering the United Kingdom. He had been due to headline the Wireless Festival in London\u2019s Finsbury Park from July 10 to July 12, where he was expected to perform his first UK shows in more than a decade. However, his electronic travel authorisation was blocked by the British government, which ruled that his presence would not be \u201cconducive to the public good.\u201d<\/p>\n

The decision forced organisers to cancel the three-day outdoor event, with refunds offered to ticket holders, as per a report by The Daily Mail.<\/p>\n

The pressure around the festival had been mounting even before the visa decision. Sponsors including Diageo, Pepsi, and Anheuser-Busch InBev withdrew support, while PayPal said its branding would no longer appear in future Wireless promotional material, as per a report by The Daily Mail.<\/p>\n

Jewish groups also welcomed the decision. The Board of Deputies of British Jews said meaningful engagement would require genuine remorse, while the Jewish Leadership Council condemned the booking amid rising antisemitic attacks.<\/p>\n

Ye later issued an apology in January through a full-page advertisement in The Wall Street Journal, where he said his bipolar disorder had led to “a four-month long, manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behaviour that destroyed my life.”<\/p>\n
