{"id":61480,"date":"2026-08-04T22:14:20","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T22:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/61480\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T22:14:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T22:14:20","slug":"worker-died-in-a-fall-into-trash-bin-at-center-line-auto-facility-the-oakland-press","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/61480\/","title":{"rendered":"Worker died in a fall into trash bin at Center Line auto facility \u2013 The Oakland Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An auto worker who died over the weekend at a Stellantis parts facility in Center Line fell while working on a renovation project, a state agency said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>James Brasher, 57, of St. Clair Shores, a longtime United Auto Workers member, died Saturday when he fell approximately 25 feet from an open door from a second floor as he worked at Stellantis\u2019 Mopar Division, Center Line National Parts Distribution Center on Lawrence Avenue north of 10 Mile Road, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>According to a brief description of the incident posted Monday by Michigan\u2019s Occupational Safety and Health Administration,\u00a0Brasher was \u201cdiscarding decommissioned equipment through a roll-up door into a trash bin located on the ground below.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe victim fell approximately 25 feet into the bin,\u201d MiOSHA officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident marked the state\u2019s 24th workplace fatality so far in 2026, according to the state agency. There were 46 reported in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Brasher was a 32-year UAW member and laborer, according to his social media website.<\/p>\n<p>The Macomb Daily previously reported UAW President Shawn Fain and Vice President Rich Boyer released a joint statement posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA member of our union went to work today expecting to complete his shift and return home to his loved ones, but sadly, that will not happen,\u201d Fain and Boyer said in their statement.<\/p>\n<p>The union said it will investigate the circumstances surrounding Brasher\u2019s death and seek further details from Stellantis about what happened.<\/p>\n<p>Stellantis spokesperson Jodi Tinson said in a statement that the company\u2019s \u201cheartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends and coworkers\u201d of the employee<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe safety of our employees is our top priority,\u201d the statement read. \u201cWe are continuing to work with authorities to thoroughly investigate the cause of this accident. Out of respect for the family, we will not confirm the identity of the employee. The building, which previously housed Mopar\u2019s administrative functions, is currently unoccupied as the company has relocated those operations to Auburn Hills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the union, Brasher was a member of UAW Local 1248.
