With temperatures soaring into the high 90s and numerous climbs, many top riders were dropped by the lead group, causing them to lose time in the General Classification ranking. For everyday riders, it was a lesson in pacing over a long ride, riding your own pace, and being prepared to be out longer than you might expect.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"1\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">The fifth stage of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift took riders on a 140-kilometer, hilly route in Burgundy from M\u00e2con to Belleville-en-Beaujolais. After a late breakaway, Demi Vollering (FDJ United Suez) bested overall leader Marlen Reusser (Movistar) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bicycling.com\/racing\/a61907909\/2024-tour-de-france-femmes-stage-8-analysis\/\" target=\"_self\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.bicycling.com\/racing\/a61907909\/2024-tour-de-france-femmes-stage-8-analysis\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney\" data-node-id=\"1.1\" class=\"body-link css-hwwm8d emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney<\/a> (Canyon\/SRAM) in a three-way sprint to the line.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"2\" class=\"css-1ood0zq emevuu60\">As with many stages of this year\u2019s Tours\u2014both in the women\u2019s and men\u2019s events\u2014high temperatures played a major role in the day\u2019s outcome.
