Herm\u00e8s bags are coveted by collectors for their quality and exclusivity. \u2018They are now the most valuable handbags in the world,\u2019 says Rachel Koffsky Parker, international head of Handbags and Accessories<\/a> at Christie\u2019s in New York. \u2018The rarest of these are the Herm\u00e8s Himalaya bags<\/a>, which feature a colour gradation that resembles the snow-capped Himalaya mountains.\u2019 In 2021, a Himalaya Kelly 28 with 18k white gold and diamond hardware<\/a> sold for HK$4,000,000 (around US$513,000) at Christie\u2019s in Hong Kong, a record price for any Kelly sold at auction anywhere.<\/p>\n

The Faubourg Birkin has also performed exceptionally well, with a rare Snow<\/a> example selling for HK$4,318,000 in May 2026, and a limited-edition Rouge<\/a> fetching \u20ac635,000 in June.<\/p>\n

As demand has continued to increase, however, so too has the number of counterfeit Herm\u00e8s bags on the market. \u2018When authenticating Herm\u00e8s bags prior to sale, we look for subtle but important idiosyncrasies in the material, construction and hardware,\u2019 says Koffsky Parker. \u2018It is important to keep in mind, however, that Herm\u00e8s bags are primarily made by hand, so there are exceptions to every rule. You should seek advice from a trusted expert to verify the authenticity if in doubt.\u2019<\/p>\n
