{"id":6845,"date":"2026-04-17T08:41:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T08:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/6845\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T08:41:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T08:41:09","slug":"totalenergies-workers-strike-in-france-over-fuel-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/6845\/","title":{"rendered":"TotalEnergies workers strike in France over fuel prices"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">PARIS, April 17 (Reuters) &#8211; TotalEnergies service station attendants in France went on strike on Friday to protest against rising fuel costs, demanding the \u200coil giant, which owns a quarter of the country&#8217;s service stations, \u200craise salaries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The company said last month it would cap prices at pumps in mainland France to \u200bhelp customers after the Iran war pushed oil prices to their highest levels in years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;Total&#8217;s employees are receiving no support to cope with this surge in fuel prices, and this needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency,&#8221; Sophie Binet, \u200csecretary general of the \u2060CGT trade union, told France 2 television on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Binet also reiterated a call for the government to increase minimum wages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">TotalEnergies did \u2060not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">In a statement, the union, which represents workers in almost 200 TotalEnergies service stations across France, asked for relief from petrol \u200bcosts \u200bfor its workers and an increase in \u200btheir salaries.
