The FFBB, the French Basketball Federation, announced the injury on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Tournebize injured her finger in practice and underwent tests at INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance), where the team was holding its training camp. No specifics about her injury were revealed.<\/p>\n<p>The tests determined that Tournebize will be unable to play for several weeks. That means Tournebize will be unavailable for the World Cup, which begins on September 4. It is unknown if the injury will affect her availability for the Gamecocks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/boards\/forums\/womens-basketball.1235\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">What does this mean for the Gamecocks? However, South Carolina\u2019s first real game is not until November 2, over 10 weeks away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The FFBB announced that Tournebize will leave the training camp, but did not specify if she is leaving immediately to return to the Gamecocks, or if she will remain in France until roster cutdowns.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As part of the announcement, the FFBB said (in French, translated by Google):<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter suffering a finger injury during practice, the forward underwent medical examinations this Friday at INSEP, which confirmed she will be sidelined for several weeks. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Alicia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tournebize\u2019s injury came the same week that teammate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/south-carolina-gamecocks\/news\/south-carolina-womens-basketball-agot-makeer-helps-canada-reach-semifinals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Agot Makeer is playing for Canada<\/a> in the Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ayla McDowell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/south-carolina-gamecocks\/news\/south-carolina-womens-basketball-ayla-mcdowell-helps-brazil-win-bronze\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">played for the Brazilian senior national team<\/a> at the FIBA South American Qualifier. She averaged 17.8 minutes, 4.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, and helped Brazil claim the bronze medal, good enough to qualify for next year\u2019s AmeriCup Tournament.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this summer, junior Joyce Edwards played for the USA Basketball 3X3 senior national team this summer.
