{"id":68918,"date":"2026-08-24T09:49:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T09:49:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/68918\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T09:49:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T09:49:10","slug":"cma-cgm-announces-new-surcharges-across-several-trades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/68918\/","title":{"rendered":"CMA CGM announces new surcharges across several trades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"687\" height=\"370\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/CMA-CGM-Puccini.png\"   alt=\"CMA CGM Puccini\" title=\"CMA CGM Puccini\"\/>CMA CGM Puccini \/ Source: VesselFinder<\/p>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"58\" data-end=\"188\">CMA CGM has announced a series of surcharge and rate adjustments across several trades, covering reefer, inland and dry cargo.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"190\" data-end=\"349\">The changes include a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for reefers moving to West Africa, a congestion surcharge for Tema and an emergency inland fee in Europe.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"351\" data-end=\"522\">The carrier has also updated its PSS from the Indian subcontinent to South America and announced a Rate Restoration Initiative (RRI) from the West Mediterranean to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Reefer PSS from Europe to West Africa<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"673\">From 1 September 2026, CMA CGM will apply a PSS of \u20ac100 per TEU on reefer shipments to West Africa.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"798\">The surcharge covers cargo originating from North Europe, the Baltic, Scandinavia, the West Mediterranean and the Adriatic.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"800\" data-end=\"849\">Settlement will follow the freight payment terms.<\/p>\n<p>Congestion surcharge for reefers to Tema<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"896\" data-end=\"1001\">CMA CGM will also introduce a Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS) for reefer cargo moving to Tema, Ghana.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1088\">The carrier cited congestion at the port\u2019s reefer yard as the reason for the measure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1250\">From North Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic, Adriatic, West and East Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa, the surcharge will be \u20ac100 or US$115 per TEU.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1252\" data-end=\"1334\">For reefer cargo from all other origins, the surcharge will be US$400 per TEU.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1336\" data-end=\"1518\">The PCS takes effect on 25 August 2026. For the United States, US territories, Australia and Latin American countries subject to filing, it will apply from 20 September 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Low Rhine water levels trigger inland emergency fee<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1576\" data-end=\"1728\">CMA CGM is also introducing an Inland Emergency Fee as low water levels continue to disrupt barge operations on the Rhine and other European rivers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1730\" data-end=\"1841\">The carrier said reduced capacity, congestion and longer terminal dwell times are increasing operational costs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1843\" data-end=\"1955\">The fee applies to all transport modes for inland shipments routed through Antwerp, Zeebrugge and Rotterdam.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1957\" data-end=\"2044\">For locations in Belgium and the Netherlands, the charge will be \u20ac50 per container.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2046\" data-end=\"2128\">For locations in Germany, Switzerland and France, the fee will be \u20ac75 per TEU.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2130\" data-end=\"2289\">For imports, the measure takes effect from 24 August, based on the discharge date. For exports, it applies from 1 September, based on the loading date.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2366\">FMC-contracted cargo will be subject to the fee from 21 September 2026.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2368\" data-end=\"2424\">The surcharge will remain in place until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>PSS maintained from Indian subcontinent to South America<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2487\" data-end=\"2616\">CMA CGM has also updated its PSS for dry cargo from the India West Coast, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to the South America East Coast.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2618\" data-end=\"2671\">The surcharge remains US$2,000 per dry container.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2673\" data-end=\"2718\">Until 31 August, it applies to all contracts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2720\" data-end=\"2818\">From 1 September 2026, the same US$2,000 surcharge will apply to long-term contracts only.<\/p>\n<p>Rate restoration from West Mediterranean to Canada<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2875\" data-end=\"2969\">Finally, CMA CGM will introduce an RRI for cargo moving from the West Mediterranean to Canada.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2971\" data-end=\"3021\">The measure takes effect on 15 September 2026.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3023\" data-end=\"3157\">It covers shipments from Italy, Mediterranean ports in Spain, France and Morocco.
