Pat McGrath<\/a>, who holds the title of Cosmetics Creative Director at the fashion house, and Nicolas Ghesqui\u00e8re, Artistic Director of Women’s Collections, to create two limited-edition capsule collections: Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge. Each features an LV Ombres eyeshadow palette, LV Rouge lipstick, and LV Baume lip balm, all in new shades and topped off in the house’s iconic Monogram-inspired designs.<\/p>\nI was especially drawn to Monogram Dune. Way more my kind of makeup than a black lip\u2014subtle, warm, and luminous without looking overly done. It’s the sort of color palette that makes me want to pare everything else back and let the makeup do the work.<\/p>\n
The first thing that struck me when I opened the collection was, unsurprisingly, the packaging. Louis Vuitton has managed to make even the smallest beauty products feel like objects I’d actually want to display. The Monogram detailing gives the pieces that unmistakable Louis Vuitton feel without feeling too in your face.<\/p>\n
When you first open the canvas eyeshadow compact, you immediately notice it’s shaped like their quintessential flower. I also love that it’s refillable because honestly, the case is too pretty to throw away.<\/p>\n
Once I started playing with the makeup, I found myself appreciating how wearable the shades are. Of course, I went for the bold blue shadow because, when you have an LV palette in front of you, you naturally experiment.<\/p>\n
The Ombres palette is probably the standout for me. I love an eyeshadow palette that gives me enough versatility to create something subtle during the day but can still be built up when I’m getting ready for an evening out. There are four shades total, and I easily applied them all with my finger.<\/p>\n
Then there’s the LV Rouge lipstick, which adds just enough color to bring the whole look together. I’m not really a lipstick girl, but this color was so muted and buildable that I’d even purchase it- and that’s saying a lot.<\/p>\n
The LV Baume is probably the easiest piece to throw into my bag and forget about until I need it. I’m always a fan of a good lip balm, but having one that feels like a genuinely luxurious accessory makes it a little more fun to reach for.<\/p>\n
When I wore the collection together, I really liked how everything worked together. The tones have that warm, sunlit quality that makes the entire face look softer. Rather than feeling like I was wearing a full face of makeup, I felt like I had simply amplified my features.<\/p>\n
I also really enjoyed the whole process of using the collection. There’s something fun about reaching for a Louis Vuitton lipstick or opening the eyeshadow palette instead of my usual everyday makeup. It makes getting ready feel a little more special.<\/p>\n
Don’t get me wrong, I love a drugstore product just as much as the next girl. But with La Beaut\u00e9 Louis Vuitton, the packaging is definitely part of the appeal for me. These are the kinds of pieces I’d want to keep on my vanity long after I’ve finished the makeup inside.<\/p>\n
If you’re someone who loves warm, understated makeup and appreciates good packaging, I can absolutely see the appeal. The Monogram Dune collection feels very wearable, and I can see myself reaching for these shades regularly rather than saving them for a special occasion.<\/p>\n
I’m usually pretty good at reminding myself that beautiful packaging doesn’t necessarily make a makeup product worth buying. But in this case, I have to admit that Louis Vuitton has made it very difficult for me to separate the two. The makeup is wearable, the shades are easy to use, and the Monogram details make the whole thing feel very Louis Vuitton.<\/p>\n
I now, unfortunately, want the matching Lip & Eye Brush Set Dune too.<\/p>\n
