The bulk of the transactions were carried out for global <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#Markets#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/institutional-investors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">institutional investors<\/a>, including hedge fund giant Millennium Management, they said.<\/p>\n<p>Hedge funds are increasingly using French banks to trade and hold assets in India because the country\u2019s tax treaty with France offers favorable treatment, while similar capital-gains benefits for Mauritius and Singapore have been removed, according to Nehal Sampat, partner at Price Waterhouse &amp; Co LLP.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives for BNP Paribas and Millennium did not reply to Bloomberg\u2019s email seeking comment.<\/p>\n<p>Turnover in the National Stock Exchange\u2019s 20-minute auction session on Aug. 31 was about 33 times the average since the mechanism\u2019s launch on Aug. 3, as investors adjusted portfolios to MSCI\u2019s latest index changes.<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ET logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/118783427.cms.png\" width=\"90%\"\/>Live Events<br \/>Index-rebalancing trades have become an increasingly important business for global hedge funds.
