It expects shoppers who postponed purchases to return to stores.

The group, which- like most companies in the luxury goods sector- has suffered from the slowdown in China, points to positive trends in that country, as well as in the United States. In the Middle East, where LVMH generates around 6% of its business, the impact remains difficult to assess for 2026, depending on the duration of the conflict. In March alone, sales were down 3%.

The fashion and leather goods division, which includes Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine, and Fendi, by far the largest in terms of revenue, is the most affected. Its sales reached 9.2 billion euros from January to the end of March, a decline of 9% (-2% excluding changes in exchange rates and scope of consolidation). This still marks a slight improvement on the final quarter of 2025.

The group reported the success of the first products by Jonathan Anderson, appointed Dior’s artistic director last year, as well as an “excellent performance” by the Loro Piana brand in the first quarter.

The wines and spirits business, which struggled last year, improved, with sales down a slight 2% (+5% organic growth) to almost 1.3 billion euros. The performance nonetheless mainly benefited from a favourable calendar effect related to Chinese New Year. Selective Retailing saw sales fall by 3% (+4% on a comparable basis) to 4 billion euros, with, according to LVMH, solid growth for the Sephora brand in all regions, accompanied by market share gains.

                                Copyright © 2026 AFP.
