Wandercraft<\/a> is in talks to raise around \u20ac100 million, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg<\/a>. The Paris-based robotics startup, known for AI-powered exoskeletons, is pushing further into industrial humanoid robots alongside its investor and customer, Renault.<\/p>\n Goldman Sachs is advising on the round, which would value Wandercraft at roughly \u20ac750 million before the new money lands. If it closes, it would be Wandercraft\u2019s biggest raise yet, just over a year after its $75 million Series D<\/a> in June 2025.<\/p>\n Money is chasing humanoid robots<\/p>\n The timing isn\u2019t an accident. Startups building humanoid robots have raised $8.6 billion in 2026 through the first half of the year alone<\/a>, already 1.8 times all of 2025, according to Dealroom data. Renault, Amazon, Google, and Mercedes-Benz are all envisioning that robots that can work on a factory floor, not just a demo stage, are close.<\/p>\n Wandercraft was founded in Paris in 2012 by Nicolas Simon<\/a>, Matthieu Masselin<\/a>, and Jean-Louis Constanza<\/a>, according to the company\u2019s own account. Simon and Constanza built it after watching relatives lose the ability to walk to Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, and wanted something better than a wheelchair.\u00a0<\/p>\n That mission produced the Atalante X rehabilitation exoskeleton, now used in more than 100 hospitals and rehab centres worldwide, years before humanoid robots entered the picture.<\/p>\n Its newest line, the Calvin family, is built for the kind of physical work a hospital exoskeleton never had to do. The first model, Calvin-40, took 40 days to build and runs on Nvidia\u2019s Isaac GR00T N1 foundation model and Jetson computing platform. It can lift up to 40 kilograms repeatedly without a break, and it\u2019s already loading tires onto the line at Renault\u2019s Douai plant in France.<\/p>\n Renault is more than a backer<\/p>\n Renault closed a minority investment in Wandercraft in June 2025, alongside a partnership to build Calvin robots for its own plants, and is now Wandercraft\u2019s first commercial customer for Calvin-40.\u00a0<\/p>\n The roadmap is specific: about 10 robots running by the end of 2026, then 350 across Renault\u2019s French and Spanish factories by the end of 2027, as part of a push to cut assembly time per vehicle by 30%. Few robotics startups get a captive customer with a production line already waiting.<\/p>\n Wandercraft isn\u2019t short on competition. Figure AI raised more than $1 billion at a $39 billion valuation<\/a> last September, backed by Nvidia, Brookfield, and OpenAI\u2019s startup fund. Apptronik closed a $520 million Series A extension<\/a> in February 2026, pushing its Series A past $935 million. Agility Robotics<\/a>, which already has robots operating at nine customer sites, including GXO and Toyota, is heading toward a public listing at a $2.5 billion valuation.<\/p>\n What sets Wandercraft apart is a decade of exoskeleton engineering it can point to before a single Calvin ships at scale, plus a customer that also happens to be a shareholder.
