Accompanied by her sister Kate Mara, the actress attended the premiere of Bucking Fastard, the latest film by German director Werner Herzog, in which the sisters share the screen for the first time. Selected for the main competition, the film tells the unusual story of sisters who share an almost supernatural bond: they speak at the same time, have the same dreams and fall in love with the same man.

Alongside its intriguing story, the festival’s red carpet once again commanded attention, showcasing a series of compelling fashion choices. For the occasion, Rooney Mara chose a custom black Louis Vuitton gown, whose minimalist, slip dress-style bodice stood in stark contrast to its dramatic lower half. The slim silhouette flared into an opulent, voluminous balloon shape composed of countless layers of delicate pleats, giving the gown a sculptural quality.

Related: All the best looks from the 2026 Venice Film Festival

Getty Images

It was precisely this contrast that made the look so compelling. Rooney remained true to her understated, minimalist elegance, while Louis Vuitton added a touch of theatricality to her signature style. With no lavish jewellery or unnecessary details, all eyes were on the gown’s construction and volume. Mara wore her hair neatly slicked back, while her make-up was almost imperceptible, allowing the gown’s unusual silhouette to take centre stage. Meanwhile, her sister Kate Mara appeared in a glamorous black-and-white Armani Privé gown embellished with sequins and a large pearl detail.

Related: Bianca Balti’s Venice Film Festival gown featured one very unexpected detail

Rooney once again demonstrated just how striking an unconventional approach to glamour can look on the red carpet. Instead of relying on embellishment, the actress turned to an unexpected cut, texture and volume. It was undoubtedly one of the best looks at this year’s Venice Film Festival so far.

Getty Images

Yesterday, the red carpet at the 83rd Venice Film Festival once again brought together some of the most…

[12704
2773,4955
post-74347","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-louis-vuitton","tag-louis-vuitton","tag-lvmh
["GET
