{"id":74799,"date":"2026-09-05T05:18:16","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T05:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/74799\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T05:18:16","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T05:18:16","slug":"mini-dictatorship-students-slam-far-right-turn-at-argentina-run-residence-in-paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/74799\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Mini-dictatorship\u2019: Students slam far-right turn at Argentina-run residence in Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Weeks before President Javier Milei visits France, scrutiny has grown around an Argentina-run university residence in Paris supposed to promote peaceful coexistence but which activists say instead restricts lodger freedoms and hosts European far-right figures.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Paris city officials have demanded the foreign ministry investigate Argentina House, one of dozens of homes run by foreign nations or French institutions on an international campus in the French capital.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The Cite Universitaire campus, or Cite U, was set up after World War I as lodgings for youth to form lasting connections with their peers across the globe.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">But campus sources and former house residents, most speaking anonymously for fear of reprisal, say that the one run by Argentina had gone awry since a Milei appointee, fervent Catholic lawyer Santiago Muzio, became its director in 2024.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe house used to be a space for community, culture, and art.
