{"id":7969,"date":"2026-04-21T11:31:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T11:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/7969\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T11:31:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T11:31:11","slug":"experts-carry-out-controlled-blast-of-wwii-bomb-near-paris-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/7969\/","title":{"rendered":"Experts Carry Out Controlled Blast of WWII Bomb near Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.islamtimes.com\/en\/news\/1275883\/experts-carry-out-controlled-blast-of-wwii-bomb-near-paris\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/france\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/n01275883-b.jpg\" alt=\"Experts Carry Out Controlled Blast of WWII Bomb near Paris\" title=\"Experts Carry Out Controlled Blast of WWII Bomb near Paris\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>            Islam Times &#8211; Bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled underground detonation of a World War II explosive near Paris on Sunday after authorities evacuated more than a thousand residents.Nearly 800 police cordoned off the site in the northwest suburb of Colombes, where the device was first discovered on April 10.<\/p>\n<p>An AFP journalist heard the explosion around 3:20 p.m. (1320 GMT) as experts detonated the bomb in a two-meter-deep (6.5-foot) pit.<\/p>\n<p>Officials also confirmed the operation had been carried out.<\/p>\n<p>The controlled explosion was ordered after specialists had failed in one bid to remove the detonator from the explosive, which measured more than one meter in length, excluding the tail section.<\/p>\n<p>Footage of the operation showed rusted metal fragments at the bottom of a sand pit, reinforced with thick timber planks and concrete walls.<\/p>\n<p>Residents within a 450-meter radius were told early Sunday to move to local reception centers. Authorities expected to allow them back into their homes later in the day.
