{"id":20002,"date":"2026-09-03T13:27:38","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T13:27:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/gbr\/london\/20002\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T13:27:38","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T13:27:38","slug":"man-charged-with-manslaughter-after-bexley-womans-death-six-years-ago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/gbr\/london\/20002\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged with manslaughter after Bexley woman\u2019s death six years ago"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A suspect has been charged with manslaughter after a woman\u2019s death six years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Bexley resident Gillian Morand died in March 2020, aged 36.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 657 493\" alt=\"Gillian Morand\" data-root=\"\/_media\/img\/\" data-path=\"6JUDIPAY8RACDFWRUPPM.jpg\" data-ar=\"1.33\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/gbr\/london\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/6JUDIPAY8RACDFWRUPPM.jpg\" alt=\"Gillian Morand\"\/>Gillian Morand<\/p>\n<p>An inquest determined her death as suicide, but the Metropolitan Police say further information came to light around allegations of domestic abuse.<\/p>\n<p>This led to detectives launching a new investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Last Thursday, officers arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with Ms Morand\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>Seyhan Assaf, of Berwick Crescent, Sidcup, has been charged with manslaughter and coercive or controlling behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged Ms Morland was abused over a significant period of time, and that this contributed to her death.<\/p>\n<p>Assaf will appear at Bromley Magistrates\u2019 Court today.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 719 627\" alt=\"Bromley Magistrates&#x2019; Court. Picture: Google<\/p>\n<p>Detective Chief Inspector Dan Whitten said: \u201cThis was a complex investigation with very few charges of this nature authorised across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who was in contact with Gillian in the decade prior to her death should contact us.
