Initiative reflects a broader shift towards airport-led digital travel marketplaces, combining inspiration, comparison and booking in a single user journey.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub – is expanding its digital ecosystem with a new integrated flight search and booking service, allowing passengers to compare and book flights worldwide directly via its website and mobile app.
The new functionality is powered through a partnership with Kiwi.com and is designed to streamline the end-to-end travel planning process by bringing inspiration, comparison and booking into a single digital environment.
The service enables users to access a wide range of global flight connections, with real-time comparison and direct booking options embedded within BER’s digital channels. It marks a significant step in the airport’s ambition to evolve its platform beyond traditional information provision into a more integrated travel marketplace.
“We are making it even easier for our passengers to plan and book their journeys,” said Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. “By way of the new service, we are bringing information and booking together in a single place, facilitating intuitive and convenient travel planning. We aim to provide travellers with all relevant offers in a clear and reliable manner. The partnership with Kiwi.com is another important step towards this.”
Through the integration, passengers can access flight search and booking alongside BER’s existing digital services, including parking reservations, arrivals and departures information, and premium airport services such as lounge access.
This positions Berlin Brandenburg Airport as part of a growing group of airports seeking to develop more commercially and digitally integrated platforms, where travel planning and airport services are increasingly combined in a single user journey.
Kiwi.com provides the underlying technology for flight comparison and booking, while airlines remain the contractual service providers. The airport acts as an intermediary platform, supporting users through the booking journey.
The move reflects a broader industry trend towards embedding retail and booking functionality into airport-owned digital ecosystems, helping airports capture more of the early-stage travel decision-making process.
By integrating flight search directly into its digital channels, Berlin Brandenburg Airport is aiming to make travel planning more seamless, intuitive and centralised – reducing friction between inspiration and booking while strengthening its role in the wider travel commerce ecosystem.
As airports continue to expand their digital propositions, BER’s latest initiative highlights how airport websites and apps are increasingly evolving into end-to-end travel platforms rather than purely operational information tools.
