Armed Robbery at Aldi Carthage
CARTHAGE, Mo. (KOAM/KJFX) — About 7:40 p.m. Monday night a male entered the Aldi store at 2442 S Grand Ave.
Carthage Police tell us the suspect approached the clerk at the register with what appeared to be a towel over his head blocking his face from cameras.
The suspect brandished a handgun, demanded money, and left the store on foot to the south with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The clerk was not injured.
SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
As we were on scene, publishing our initial article, gathering information, and suddenly police officers left the Aldi quickly. Information developed on a suspect staying at a nearby motel.
They activated SWAT within sight of Aldi at Carthage Inn/Rodeway Inn, 2244 S Grand Ave.
There they took a black male suspect into custody without incident. They also arrested a white female.
LT Aaron Kmick of Carthage Police tells us they have two suspects in custody. There is no further threat to the public.
After the arrests they were waiting on a search warrant for the room where the pair were staying.
