Thousands of Australians have lined up outside Aldi stores nationwide to be the first to shop its iconic and affordable Snow Gear Special Buys for the 2026 snow season.

Fans of the supermarket giant could not wait to get their hands on the ski gear in the highly anticipated yearly sale.

On the opening day of the sale on Monday, lines were forming as early as 7:30am, with one store having over 50 people lining up, eagerly waiting for Aldi’s doors to open an hour later.

Aussies were eager to grab whatever they could from the much-loved sale, which includes over 50 winter essentials, including affordable thermals, waterproof jackets, pants, boots, and skiing accessories.

What made the wait outside the store worth it was that all items in the ski range started from $4.99, with nothing over $100.

This is Aldi’s attempt to make skiing more accessible for Australian families during the current cost of living crisis.

“We’ve seen an incredible response from customers for this year’s ALDI Snow Gear Special Buys collection, with eager shoppers lining up outside stores before doors opened on Saturday morning to get their hands on the range,” an Aldi spokesperson told news.com.au.

“The excitement reflects just how iconic the range has become for Australians planning a trip to the slopes, offering high-quality snow essentials at unbeatable ALDI prices, with more than 50 items starting from just $4.99 and nothing over $100.”

The spokesperson also said that Aldi was familiar with research showing 3.7 million Aussies are planning a snow trip this year, saying, “We know customers are looking for smart ways to save without compromising on quality, and ALDI’s Snow Gear range continues to deliver exactly that”.

With Aldi regularly changing the products in the stores’ middle aisle with home deals and steals each week, this snow gear goodies certainly seem to be a fan favourite on social media.

Aldi shoppers documented the sale frenzy online, with one Instagram user posting a lengthy line stretching down the block, showing loyal customers waiting at 7:55am with their shopping bags and trolleys ready.

On TikTok, the buzz was rampant, with many customers documenting the chaos inside the stores.

“If you’re going skiing anywhere, I’d definitely recommend going to Aldi,” one Tiktoker told her followers in a video.

“Aldi is the best u can’t tell me otherwise. $60 for the jacket and $50 for the pants?? Straight in the basket. Bring on aprèsssss,” another shopper write in her video, showing off her purchases in the middle of the store.

“I got there at 9:15, and most of the ladies’ jackets were gone,” a girl said on her TikTok, sad that she missed out on some good bargains.

Despite some items selling out quicker than others, the comments online were overwhelmingly positive.

“What a steal sign me up,” one person commented.

“How good is Aldi,” another added.

Some users explained their struggle in grabbing the best deals, with one person claiming, “We had to go to war for the ski socks”.
