QUINCY, Fla. (WCTV) – Aldi in Quincy is set to remain closed until the building is deemed safe after a mudslide caused severe damage near the shopping plaza Sunday, according to an Aldi spokesperson.
In a statement to WCTV Wednesday afternoon, the company said that, out of an abundance of caution, the store will remain closed while officials further assess the situation.

“We look forward to welcoming the community back to our store as soon as possible,” Aldi said.
The news comes after Quincy city officials announced in a press release Monday that heavy rain triggered a mudslide Sunday, which then resulted in damage to utility lines and the water main serving the shopping plaza.

As a result, the area temporarily lost electric and water services that day.
However, city officials said Monday that electric services were fully restored.
A contractor on site Wednesday claims that the city has implemented a temporary fix to the water and that the store should have it now. WCTV is working to learn more.
No injuries were reported.
