DHL (XETR: DHL) Supply Chain Australia has been appointed as a strategic third-party logistics partner for global technology provider Metso (HEL:METSO) to improve energy and resources efficiency for the mining industry.

Under the agreement, DHL will manage Metso’s warehousing operations from Berrinba in Brisbane, supporting inbound logistics, storage and outbound movement of equipment and machinery critical to Australia’s mining industry.

The partnership marks DHL’s entry into providing comprehensive third-party logistics supply chain solutions for the sector.

CEO Steve Thompsett says the company is “excited” to support the Queensland expansion, leveraging its global expertise and local capabilities to enhance the speed, accuracy, and resilience of its operations.

“This partnership reflects the trust in DHL’s proven capabilities in the mining sector and our commitment to supporting Metso’s long-term strategy and presence in Australia,” Thompsett says.

Serving Australian customers effectively

Metso Vice President for Australia East Gavin Pasin says the company’s new facility in Queensland enables it to meet increased warehousing capacity requirements and enhance its ability to serve customers more effectively.

“As a trusted partner for our customers, we also collaborate with proven supply chain partners and experts in their fields,” Pasin says.

“Sustainability is core to how we operate and working with responsible partners like DHL Supply Chain supports our efforts to lower value chain greenhouse gas emissions towards a more efficient, low-carbon supply chain.”

DHL’s Wembley Park facility offers a combination of indoor and outdoor space within the growing campus in Berrinba. The warehouse is designed to accommodate Metso’s diverse product portfolio, ranging from small precision components to large, heavy machinery requiring specialised handling equipment.

DHL is a global brand in the logistics industry. The company supports the mining industry by managing end-to-end supply chains, from traditional transportation and warehousing to heavy-lift movements, battery logistics, and onsite logistics support.
